PRINTABLE LANGUAGE LEARNING GAMES

Printable language learning games are a fantastic way to liven up your study routines! The problem is: most PNP games you’ll find out there are actually kind of cheap and boring, with a low replay value. Here at Language Card Games, I solve that problem by creating games with a high replay value. Games with intention, imagination, and depth. Let me show you the perfect example of what I mean.

The Best Printable Language Learning Games

In 2023, I released my latest and greatest card game called Heading Into Language Land. I strongly recommend it to you because it is the most robust and immersive game I’ve made yet.

  • works for any TL
  • includes 100+ exciting topics
  • multiple formats (printable, virtual, and professionally-printed decks)
  • active, online game groups for several TLs
  • pre-built study guides for several TLs
  • card commissions (design your own character card)
  • second edition currently in development

Advantages Of Printable Language Learning Games

There are many benefits unique to printable language learning games. Let’s take a look at the top three.

1. Budget Friendly – Printable language learning games have a dramatically lower price because there are no costs associated with professionally printing, packaging, or shipping.

2. Instant Access – After purchase, you can potentially start playing within minutes. No need to wait days or weeks for your order to arrive, as is the case with professionally-printed games.

3. Reusability – You can print and share PNPs an unlimited number of times. If any of your cards become damaged, lost, or simply worn down…just reprint the cards!

Tips For Preparing Your Printable Language Learning Games

Preparing your printable language learning games excellently will help ensure they look beautiful and last for a long time. Here are some tips for you along those lines.

1. Select The Right Cardstock – Cardstock comes in different thicknesses and finishes. Choose the right one for you. Generally speaking, 100 lb (270 gsm) – 110 lb (300 gsm) works well. Typical at-home printers may have problems with 300 gsm and higher. If you have any doubt, start with 270 gsm. Alternatively, you can let your local print shop handle it; their printers can handle thicker cardstock more easily.

2. Cut The Cards Out Precisely – The ideal tool for cutting out cards is a rotary paper cutter. They have metal rulers and moving slides which will cut perfectly straight and uniform every time. Your local print shop might have one that you can use. Barring that, your next best option is sharp craft scissors. Without those, typical scissors will also work. Just be aware that dull scissors may not cut very cleanly.

Rounding the corners of the game cards is not essential, but it does create a desirable finished appearance. You can use scissors to carefully round the corners of each game card or you can use a corner rounder punch.

3. Sleeve Or Laminate Your Finished Cards – You can slide your finished cards into deck protectors (plastic sleeves), which will help protect them for a long time to come. There are a variety of colors and styles online. Just be careful to to purchase a size which is slightly larger than the game cards.

Another way to protect your cards and add durability is to laminate them. After printing and cutting out your cards, arrange several inside a piece of laminate with some space between them. After laminating, cut out each card, leaving margin of laminate around each card that is 1-2 millimeters wide.

If you make any mistakes while preparing your printable language learning card game, never fear! You can always try again.
